In the week of August 21st, 2023, six artists participated in a short and intensive drawing residency, during the first edition of VROOM Summer School in Brussels. Located in the beautiful VROOM space in Brussels, the three Belgian and three Dutch artists had an intensive week, giving each other drawing workshops, while exchanging and sharing their artistic methods. The week ended with a presentation of the results of three days of intensive drawing.
VROOM summer school is an intensive week-long residency where six artists immerse themselves in their drawing practice. Each artist takes the lead for half a day, proposing a drawing exercise that provides insight into their own way of drawing. Through the exercise, the artist takes the other participants on a journey into their personal approach to the discipline. In this way, the artists step into each other's methodologies and get to know each other through the practice of creating.
The focus of the summer school is on collaboration, exchange, and deepening of one's own practice.
