Festival The Other Book - The Hague
29.11.2019 β 7.2.2020
For this exhibition six artists from The Hague and the region Haaglanden create new work with the Risograph and other graphic techniques available at Grafische Werkplaats Den Haag.
Lisa Blaauwbroek, Jip Piet, Jelmer Konjo, Alexandra Martens, Bas de Geus and Andrew Tseng are all contributors to Wobby magazine and will work under guidance of Wobbyβs editor-in-chief Marjolein Schalk. This time, theyβre not just handing in a design, but working with the Risograph themselves. The artists are challenged to make Riso wallpaper with their own artistic approach, mixing media and techniques.
Also on view: an exhibition of all Wobby magazines.

For this workshop we invited Marjolein Schalk, chief editor of the leading Risograph printed magazine Wobby, to share with us her Riso kitchen secrets. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced Riso enthusiasts. Before the workshop, Marjolein Schalk give a talk about Wobby and Riso printing.
πππππππΌπ The Other Book is a unique celebration of the art book in all its facets. It is the first biennial event in The Hague (NL) that combines an art book fair with exhibitions, workshops, talks, presentations, demonstrations, films, and performances at various locations. Each edition focuses on a different kind of βother bookβ. The first edition of The Other Book (29 November 2019 β 1 December 2019) is devoted to the Riso revolution: art books produced with Risograph and Mimeograph stencil duplicators.
Over the course of three days, The Other Book provides a platform for artists, publishers, print rooms, collectives, art libraries, collectors and book enthusiasts. By partnering with local artists and initiatives, and providing a stage for both local and (inter)national artists, The Other Book serves as a place of exchange. The extensive program explores artistic practices, conceptual publications and the seemingly endless possibilities of the art book.
