Join us on Thursday 20 June for the final PUNCH. event of the season, hosted by Wobby @ De Pont museum, Tilburg, where we will launch our newest issue Wobby #38 - Unpave the Way. This Wobby is the second issue created in collaboration with a guest curator, Sunflower Soup, a Dutch collective that explores collaborative action through art and activism. Wobby #38 features an array of pieces that delve into themes of environmental activism, social justice, and the power of community.
For this issue, Sunflower Soup and Wobby facilitated workshops with residents of Landpark Assisië, a home for people with mental disabilities near Tilburg. The workshops resulted in drawings spread throughout this issue in both individually and collectively made pages. During the PUNCH event, members of Sunflower Soup will also be hosting several drawing workshops inspired by the theme ‘Unpave the Way’.
Multidisciplinary artist Tommy Smits will guide you through the program and will talk with artists from Wobby #38. Tommy followed a residency at Landpark Assisië in 2023, at the initiative of Wobby. During PUNCH., we will also be showing work made during this period.
Marishka Soekarna is both the cover artist for Wobby #38 and the DJ of the evening. She is a visual artist from Indonesia. Graduated in printmaking, her work represents a delicate interplay between introversion and the quiet beauty of self-intimacy, a personal narrative in moments of vulnerability and curiosity that existed in harmony with the surroundings. Art as her form of escapism, almost naïve and a bit surreal. Believes in life after love & when she’s not drawing, she collects records, and DJ’s at various events and places.

Part of Unpave the Way is filled with drawings made by the residents of Landpark Assisië, Biezenmortel (NL). These drawings were made during a series of workshops, facilitated by Wobby and Sunflower Soup. Landpark Assisië is a home for people with psychiatric disabilities near Tilburg. It was founded by monks and its name refers to Francis of Assisi, the medieval rebel who valued all living beings equally, rejected material possessions, was famous for preaching to birds, and is said to have first used the acronym A.C.A.B. (All Chirps Are Beautiful). During one of the crusades, Francis approached the Sultan's camp unarmed and the two had a long conversation, a testament to his commitment to peace and dialogue.
