Illustratie Biënnale & Wobby
During this year's edition of Illustratie Biënnale, we will be presenting all 42 editions of our Wobby magazine. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to discover the complete Wobby-archive from upclose, looking back at eleven years of unconventional, quirky visual art. This colorful presentation offers an overview of multiple illustrators and visual artists who contributed to Wobby throughout the years.
On Sunday, June 7th, Wobby’s co-founder and artistic director Marjolein Schalk will be part of a live edition of the Potloodcast. In this podcast, an illustrator is interviewed using five images. Through these images, we delve into the life and mind of the illustrator. Who is the person behind the images? What drives the images to emerge? An auditory portrait of someone who thinks in images. Marjolein will be joining this edition together with festival image maker Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva and social illustrator Nastia Cistakova.
Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva & Wobby
Masha is a Rotterdam based illustrator, who blurs the lines between fine-art and illustration practices. During her career she worked both as an editorial, commercial illustrator for publishing houses around the world, and as an independent artist for galleries and museums.
In the past, Masha has illustrated the cover of Wobby #25 - The Cleanout. For the upcoming Wobby #43 Masha returned to Wobby as co-curator, working closely together with Marjolein for this newest edition.
Nastia Cistakova & Wobby
Nastia is an international artist and illustrator based in Utrecht. Her work is bold, colorful, editorial and focuses on topics such as queer sexuality, unfair distribution of money, trends. She uses absurdism and humor as research methods for her work.
In the past, Nastia has illustrated the cover of Wobby #7 - Seks Is Iets Geks.
